[hylafax-users] State inquiry

Hi,

How can you inquire the state of each fax modem. Right now I do the
something like the following but it is not perfect (possible race
condition). 

for i in `ps -eaf | grep faxgetty | awk '{print $2}'`; do 
   grep -i "FaxGetty\[$i\]: STATE" /var/log/messages | tail -1 
done

Is there a way to query the backend and get the true state of each
modem.
