[hylafax-users] Wedged modem, sign of long term problems?
Hi everyone...
Things have been going smoothly for a week or so on my new
hylafax-dedicated box, a PII-450, 256 MB RAM, hylafax-4.1.7-1rh8.i386.rpm
binary install, RedHat 8.0 with all updates (except the kernel from last
week).
Sometime around 5:50-6:00am today the modem decided to stop talking to the
hylafax program. Here's a section of my /var/log/messages, showing normal
function, and then the failure:

As you can see, its a Multitech MT5634ZBA external modem, the best
available according to my browsing of these list archives. It appears that
the firmware (1.28c) is the latest. This is the first time this problem has
occured, it took a reboot of the server and the modem to bring it back
online. The modem was purchased new about 2 weeks ago. How can I look into
the cause of this further? Anyone have the same issues with similar
hardware? So far its been fine...
