 Do you have a faxmodem configured ? Either you should have used a
faxaddmodem or you a faxgetty running on that modem?

 Check if you have the fifo's in place with a "ls -l /var/spool/hylafax"

You should have a FIFO.ttyS0 (or what ever your modem port is) and a
FIFO pipe in the hylafax root.

Hi,

I have hylafax running on Suse 8.0. I configured the modem (card is 
working (i tested it with minicom)). at ttyS1, but i can´t get make 
hylafax work.
after the instalation, i run faxmodem ttyS1 

i start hylafax:

cartman:~ # /etc/init.d/hylafax start
Starting service HylaFAX                      done

but when i try to send a fax e receive the following message:

cartman:~ # sendfax -d 4500 /etc/hosts
460 Failed to submit job 2: Unable to open scheduler FIFO: No such 
device or address.

at /var/spool/fax i have the following files:
