It's most likely line quality.  Are you running this through a PBX?  If 
so try it without the PBX.  The line quality is likely causing the FCS 
errors, too.  They're both symptoms of the same problem.  If this is 
not through a PBX, then have the telco check the line for static.  It 
*could* be a faulty modem or cabling on your end, too... 
electro-magnetic disturbance, etc.

It's not likely HylaFAX, however.

If all else fails you may want to look into ECM (as a band-aid 
workaround), but it's just developmental at the present.
