Re: [hylafax-users] faxgetty respawning too quickly [Other Tips]

Here are some tips that I have found useful in my own HylaFAX
configuration.

Most distributions will configure HylaFAX to automatically start
at system boot-up by incorporating scripts in /etc/rc.d and
also by modifying /etc/inittab. For the tweaking and testing
of a new HylaFAX installation, I prefer to temporarily bypass
these scripts and simply start HylaFAX manually with the
commands:

faxq
hfaxd -i 4559
faxgetty [device] &

Then I can immediately examine the logs to see how the install
is functioning. If I need to alter any configuration parameters
I can quickly shut things down and start over:

Killall faxgetty hfaxd faxq

This allows me to start and stop HylaFAX any number of times until
things are working properly.
