You can use SAMBA to send Winpopups.
You could let the script "notify.awk" build the relevant information as
normal but modify the script "notify" to send a popup as follows:-
echo $MESG | ${PATH2SMBCLIENT}/smbclient -M ${USERNAME}
This assumes that you have put a message in $MESG first
