Polling works in Class 1. Polling in Class 2 depends upon firmware
support by your modem.
When you "poll" versus "fax" the modem calls, determines that the
called system is a T.4 *sender*, and initiates a facsimile *poll*
according to T.30 specs. You then end up with a TIFF in recvq and
pollrcvd is run. Just try it and see. It's easier to see it in action
and understand than for me to describe it.
