[hylafax-users] USR 56K PCI FAX / Hylafax / modem issues

this machine is unable to successfully fax. however, i can use ppp, cu, and
other utilities that do not require fax capabilities without problems. i
would love to find out what the problem is and solve it, rather than buying
a replacement modem because this one is buggy. i am not sure if the problem
is with the device driver, hylafax, or the modem firmware. any insight is
greatly appreciated. my googling did not turn up anything helpful.

when sending or receiving faxes, the line gets tied up, but there is no
output. the hylafax session output below suggests that the problem occurs
before the actual document itself is sent or received. dead in the water
before i even had the chance to step in the boat. if any of you have setup
hylafax on FreeBSD 4.7 or 4.8 using an internal PCI modem WITH SUCCESS,
please let me know which vendor and chipset the modem has. i have heard
that these USR 56K PCI internal modems had problems, but i thought they
were resolved with the latest firmware release.
