[hylafax-users] Session *slow* to close after received fax

New user of HylaFAX. Fresh install of hylafax 4.1.5-1rh7.i386.rpm on
RedHat Linux 7.3 (fully updated), Modem in question is Aopen FM56EX
(Rockwell chipset external modem, Class 1 only).

Anyway, with relatively little effort I managed to successfully send
myself faxes from a real fax machine. Got it in only two tries. Felt
pretty good for a while. The problem is that following completion of the
transmission, the modem stays off-hook for between 6 and seven minutes
after the sending fax machine has hung up. No error messages, no other
symptoms that I can see. I've been playing with modem settings and
getting absolutely nowhere. I can't find anything in the archives or
through Google that offers any useful information.

If anyone has any suggestions, I'd really appreciate it.

I have successfully received with an old ZyXEL U1496E in Class 2 mode
without this problem. (Before you ask, the only reason I'm not using the
ZyXEL is problematic distinctive ring detection. I may be able to find
someone to burn newer firmware into the ZyXEL EPROMs, in which case
I'll use it instead of the Aopen. Meanwhile, I'm trying to deal with
this end-of-message timing situation.)

A sample log file is at the bottom of this message. Notice the gap of
6:36 near the end.

Again, thanks for any thoughts.

Bruce Halco
