Re: [hylafax-users] Cheap fax cards.

We have by far the greatest amount of difficulty sending to and
receiving from businesses that are running some form of computer based
fax server. Generally the other end has no idea what they are doing and
is virtually always certain that the problem is at our end. However, we
have had problems with both our own REAL fax machines and those of
others. We send and receive a fair number of faxes from a wide variety
of clients many of whom are running equipment that went off the market
over 10 years ago.

One of the problems is that if you have a "bad" combination it will STAY
bad most of the time.

That is, you may find that someone who you really NEED to fax can't be
talked to with your system - that's a BIG problem.

The bizarre thing is that for the most part this problem has been solved
for and with REAL fax machines. I can't remember the last time my HP
OfficeJet was unable to successfully complete a fax transmission - even
to fax machines that "fail" with various modems.

This is something that, at least for Class 1 use on HylaFax, SHOULD be
fixable.
