[hylafax-users] waiting for modem to come ready

Hello All

I'm a new linux/hylafax user & have been trying to install & configue HylaFax
but am having a problem.

Setup:
RH7.2
HylaFax 4.1.5 rh7
Connexant PCI 56k modem

Firstly, my modem is fine. I can connect through Internet dialler & have no
problem browsing & sending mail so the hardware & driver are ok.

I've gone through the configuration procedure & now just want to send a test
page using sendfax. My job looks like it gets queued ok, but faxstat just
comes back with 'Waiting for modem to come ready'. I've looked at the
archives and have made sure my device permissions (/dev/modem) are correct
(0666). I've set server logging to 0xFFF but only appear to get traces when I
manually start faxgetty in a console window.

Do I need to run a faxgetty process even if I'm only interested in sending
faxes ?

The messages log gives the following:

So the device is obviously talking, I'm just a bit suspicious about the

MODEM set DTR OFF after the +FCLASS query.

Is there anything obvoius ? Other people's traces seem to explicitly set the
FCLASS but mine doesn't get that far.

Thanks

Chris
