[hylafax-users] Anyone had success with HylaFAX and ZyXel Omni 56K modem?

I'm having a terrible time getting HylaFAX to work properly. I'm using
Mandrake 8.0 with version hylafax-server-4.1-0.11 (rpm install) with a
single Zyxel Omni 56K modem. The system is running at an office in a
neighbouring city.

When I send faxes from my home office, it receives practically 100% of
the time from either my fax modem or my stand-alone fax machine.
However, about 30% of the time other fax jobs from various recipients
fail. Here's a sample failed job:

I have already reduced the modem speed to 19200 which improved the
reliability a bit, but not even close to reliable. Searching the
archives reveals a lot of different advice, but everything I've tried
has failed. I'd like to try and avoid troubleshooting the "microsoft"
way (start swapping hardware until something works). If it's HylaFAX,
how can this be fixed? Is the HylaFAX project active, or should I be
looking somewhere else for a fax solution? I'm sure that this is a
problem that can be solved with this modem since other people have had
great success with the Zyxel modems.

Thanks in advance,

Miles K. Forrest
