You don't need mgetty for HylaFAX.  Usually you can find the mgetty+sendfax
package in:

mgetty
mgetty-sendfax
mgetty-voice

You don't want mgetty-sendfax installed.  You can use vgetty (from
mgetty-voice) to answer voice calls and you can use mgetty to answer data
calls, but you don't *need* them for HylaFAX.
