Alas, that's not *quite* enough information:

* Do you mean 4.1beta3, or the current CVS version?

"faxanswer" worries me.

And it worries me even more after hearing that.  Multiple fax server
packages tend not to play all that well together, and I suspect that
may be what's giving you trouble.

If you haven't looked through Lee Howard's excellent HOWTO, do check
out the website, and give it a looksee, notably sections 3.4 and 3.5.

The program you should be using to queue outbound faxes (at least for
testing) is sendfax, but I'm not sure the one you're trying to run is
'ours'.
