[hylafax-users] Strange behaviour, hints would be appreciated
Hi all,
I searched the mailing list archives but found nothing of help (in fact
I tried switching my fax-modem class to 1 as suggested in one of the
mails, but that didn't help at all).
I have the following setup - HylaFAX 4.1beta3, installed from the RPMS from
hylafax.org. The modem is a cheap Mecer Rockwell-based 56k fax/modem, supports
class 2 fax, blah blah blah. I don't think this is a hardware issue because
of the symptoms I get. When I try sending fax from whfc (I tried 1.0.2 and
1.0.8, on a Windows NT 4 Workstation) it always fails with the following
pattern in logs:
[normal negotiation, capabilities determination, etc.]
Mar 06 16:10:13.73: [11910]: USE 14400 bit/s
Mar 06 16:10:13.73: [11910]: USE 0 ms/scanline
Mar 06 16:10:13.73: [11910]: <-- [9:AT+FTH=3\r]
Mar 06 16:10:13.78: [11910]: --> [7:CONNECT]
Mar 06 16:10:13.78: [11910]: <-- data [3]
Mar 06 16:10:13.78: [11910]: <-- data [2]
Mar 06 16:10:15.09: [11910]: --> [2:OK]
Mar 06 16:10:15.09: [11910]: <-- [5:ATH0\r]
Mar 06 16:10:16.63: [11910]: --> [2:OK]
Mar 06 16:10:16.63: [11910]: SESSION END
and sometimes:
[normal negotiation, capabilities determination, again]
Mar 06 15:35:19.22: [11591]: USE 14400 bit/s
Mar 06 15:35:19.22: [11591]: USE 0 ms/scanline
Mar 06 15:35:19.22: [11591]: <-- [5:ATH0\r]
Mar 06 15:35:19.48: [11591]: --> [9:+FHNG: 20]
Mar 06 15:35:19.48: [11591]: REMOTE HANGUP: Unspecified Transmit Phase B error (code 20)
Mar 06 15:35:20.91: [11591]: --> [2:OK]
Mar 06 15:35:20.91: [11591]: SESSION END
What is more interesting is that even in the "Phase B error" scenario
HylaFAX sends an email stating that the fax has been sent just fine and
the job is done.
On the other hand this it receives faxes normally *and* when I send a fax
via faxmail it also always works! Could this be a problem with whfc and
what? Can you please point me to other Windows clients that could replace
whfc?
Thanks in advance,
Pavel.
