Maybe, I'm not sure, it's the same thing it happens with 1d or 2D
compression.
HylaFAX places a call and records the capabilities of the remote fax in
/var/spool/fax/info/*; next time that it has to connect to the same
number it uses the max capabilities.
In my case, the first time I send a fax to a remote machine that
supports 2d I see
remote 2D
using 1D
then, on the next fax
remote 2D
using 2D
This is because HylaFAX "builds" the fax (with some vres and
compression) before placing the call.
