That's a good enough answer.  My version would be that you get better
real-time status info from faxgetty, and -- usually -- you just put it in
/etc/inittab and turn it on and it causes *0* problems.  especially on
outbound systems, the only consideration is that you have to tell it not to
answer the phone, but other than that I've had no problems with it whatever.

If you don't have any problems with it either, then I'd say that the goods
outweigh the bads  If you *do* have problems with it, then you'd have to make
your own judgement.
