Is there a reason why I should use faxgetty over faxmodem?
I just use the faxmodem and it works!

man faxgetty
You need to have a faxgetty running against the modem for faxq to schedule
transmissions on it.
[ that's a white lie; you can use faxmodem instead, but it's deprecated. If
no one else's deprecated it yet, I just did. :-) ]
