*grin* your HOWTO actually reads a wee bit differently as of a few minutes ago. I recommend the new RPM which fixes the problem reported by Lars Larsen.
Try:
ftp://ftp.hylafax.org/binary/linux/redhat/RPMS/i386/hylafax-4.1beta2-7rh6.i386.rpm
Everything else Lee suggests in the HOWTO is unchanged.
