RE: faxstat does not list modem ?!?

never mind about the messages of stty; they are for voice issues (I think).
for faxstat show the modem, you have to insert the line faxgetty in the inittab file.

Subject: flexfax: faxstat does not list modem ?!?

I have installed Hylafax under Redhat 6.1 with kernel 2.2.13.
I tried several versions. The last one is hylafax-4.1beta1-1rh6 (binary rpm).

The faxsetup runs without a problem.
The faxaddmodem script detects the modem (I have a ZyXel 1496e+ with firmware 6.22 recently updated) and configures it but print out
/bin/stty: standard input: unable to perform all requested operations
several times.
When I start up Hylafax and issue faxmodem ttyS0 faxstat does not show the modem.
Tested with minicom and cu the modem does not make any problem.

I read the docu and this list and saw that several people here had a similiar problem, but no clear solution was presented.

I tried upgrading setserial, sh-utils(stty) but nothing helped.
I hard reseted the modem ... didnīt help either.

If anyone has an idea please tell me (I tried for 2 whole days now).
Please respond via email, too.
