According to the manual page, which I assume you have read:

WHEREIS(1)                                             WHEREIS(1)

NAME
       whereis - locate the binary, source, and manual page files
       for a command


'hylafax' is not a command. Try one of HylaFAX's binaries, such as faxstat:

[tpcadmin@hewes tpcadmin]$ whereis faxstat
faxstat: /usr/bin/faxstat /usr/man/man1/faxstat.1 /usr/man/man1/faxstat.1.gz

or hfaxd

[tpcadmin@hewes tpcadmin]$ whereis hfaxd  
hfaxd: /usr/sbin/hfaxd /usr/man/man8/hfaxd.8c /usr/man/man8/hfaxd.8c.gz
