My problem is that I don't have Ghostscript 5.10, only Ghostscript 6.01.
I deleted (rpm -e) the 5.10 Mandrake ghostscript and upgraded to
ghostscript 5.50 and then to 6.01, keeping the Mandrake ghostscript-Both
and ghostscript-X files along with the new 6.01 ghostscript and 6.01
ghostscript-fonts:

[sher@adsl-77-233-178 sher]$ rpm -qa|grep ghostscript 
ghostscript-Both-5.50-9mdk
ghostscript-X-5.50-9mdk 
ghostscript-fonts-6.0-2 
ghostscript-6.01-1

[sher@adsl-77-233-178 ghostscript]$ ls 
6.01/  fonts/

As for Hylafax itslef, it shows up when I do an RPM query but not a
whereis (and I have already done updatedb, makewhatis, rebooted and then
rpm --rebuilddb)

hylafax-4.1beta2-3rh6
[sher@adsl-77-233-178 sher]$
                                     
[sher@adsl-77-233-178 sher]$ whereis hylafax
hylafax:

Would very much appreciate your help on this. I am stumped.
