Hi,
 
can you view faxcover.ps via ghostview ? If faxcover.ps is the
standard HylaFAX faxcover, then this is not a valid postscript file.
Just try to send a plain ASCII file, for example
sendfax -d xxx -h leopard /etc/hosts
