flexfax: probemodem errors on linux

Hello,

i get the following message on a linux system with kernel 2.2.10 and 2.2.13
and stty version 1.? and 2.0, and hylafax 4.0pl12 and 4.1beta2:


Probing for best speed to talk to modem: 38400 OK.
/bin/stty: standard input: unable to perform all requested operations
[1]+  Terminated              ( trap 0 1 2 15; while true; do
    sleep 10; echo ""; echo "Hmm, something seems to be hung, check your
modem e
h?";
done )


i commented out faxgetty in /etc/inittab, did a telinit q afterwards and
also
a /sbin/init.d/hylafax stop

cu -l ttyS0 works fine

i know that "/bin/stty: standard input: unable to perform all requested
operations"
can probably ignored but what is the reason for the ohter message?
