Cue major embarrassment at this point. I did eventually track the problem down to the fact that -i is one of those Job related parameters that is affected by the placement of -d. Moved the placement of -d to the end of options list and hey presto! It all works. Again apologies for wasting bandwidth. Toodle pip, Roy [Snip irrelevant detail]
