Hello Nico,
	got my modem working, posted as "LinkSys 10/100 + 56k PCMCIA is
faxing!".  Still am curious about this fuser and stty thing.

  	I read the man page for stty.  It's some type of command for
communication settings.  Man page is no longer being maintained.  Going to post
to the SuSE thread and ask about it and search Deja.  For the heck of it, I did

george:/ # stty
speed 0 baud; line = 0;
-brkint -imaxbel
george:/ # stty 0
stty: standard input: unable to perform all requested operations

	Meantime ... 

 	Here is the results of fuser:
george:/ # fuser /dev/ttyS1
/dev/ttyS1:            185  

So I ran
ps auxww | less

	So faxgetty is the culprit.  Is this bad?  I do have a problem with
ppp.  Every so often, I connect, but yet can't ping out, and Netscape can't
find the server.  Could this have anything to do with that?  It's not urgent,
but since rebooting is the only cure, it's irritating.
