Failure to forward messages

Hi list,

Well, thanks to the change of modem, Hylafax now looks to be sending faxes OK. My system is Linux PPC, kernel 2.2.12, Hylafax 4.1beta2, MultiTech 2834ZDXK modem.

However, received faxes just sit in the rcvq and don't get mailed on anywhere. The log file shows the following when receiving a 2 page test fax:

Nov 28 00:41:20 Wallace FaxGetty[1038]: ANSWER: FAX CONNECTION
Nov 28 00:41:52 Wallace FaxGetty[1038]: RECV FAX (00000103): from Iain Stevenson, page 1 in 0:27, INF, 7.7 line/mm, 1-D MR
Nov 28 00:42:51 Wallace FaxGetty[1038]: RECV FAX (00000103): from Iain Stevenson, page 2 in 0:59, INF, 7.7 line/mm, 1-D MR
Nov 28 00:42:51 Wallace FaxGetty[1038]: RECV FAX (00000103): recvq/fax00004.tif from Iain Stevenson, route to <unspecified>, 2 pages in 1:31
Nov 28 00:42:51 Wallace FaxGetty[1240]: OPEN /dev/faxmodem
Nov 28 00:42:51 Wallace FaxGetty[1240]: Purge stale UUCP lock /var/lock/LCK..faxmodem
Nov 28 00:42:56 Wallace FaxGetty[1240]: MODEM MULTI-TECH SYSTEMS MT2834ZDXI/0316D

I'd like the fax to be mailed on to 'root'. Hylafax will send messages 'cos if I don't have the faxmodem plugged in root receives mail saying that the modem is 'wedged'. So it looks as though the problem is related to faxgetty, hfaxd or associated scripts. I've tried creating etc/FaxDispatch and that didn't do anything.

I'm mystfied! - suggestion please ....

  Iain Stevenson
