flexfax: please help

need help setting up a Hylafax server
have it were the clients can see it (clients being WHFC) but every time
i try to send a fax it gives me an error "Hylafax scheduler is not
running on the server"
i tried to configure faxmodem buy running command "faxmodem ttyS0".
error FIFO: open: Device not configured.
I have ran faxaddmodem and ran into no errors
ran faxsetup ran into 1 error "faxgetty seems not being used, not a
fatal error do you want to use faxmodem.  I answered yes

environment
    REDHAT 6.0
    Hylafax 4.0
    in a send only environment of faxes
    modem External USR56k
    computer 166 Cyrix CPU, RAM 16 megs, hard drive 1.1gig, network card
Intel 10-100
the guy setting it up still trying to figure out linux, mostly screws
around on NT and DOS and windows 3.11 upwards
