flexfax: CID always rejected

I'm having trouble with callers always being rejected based on
caller id even when i use a pattern that matches anything,
^.*$.  From the logs it looks like hylafax is getting the
correct caller id information about the call.  What am i doing
wrong?  I'm using hylafax version 4.1 beta 1.  Please email me
