flexfax: Faxing image files

I had a bunch of documents that I can scanned as black and white
200dpi documents, stored as tiff files

I tried to fax them, and what I would get would be one corner of the
document blown up to a giant size.

I finally had to shrink the documents to about 1/2 size to get them to
show up as full size (grany) documents on the output fax.

Anyone have any experience with this?
