Have you actually tried sending a fax? You might find it actually works
even though it has this message.

If you don't configure a faxgetty, then faxq just leaves the modem in
this state expecting faxgetty
to reset the modem and get it all sorted out and change the status
message. I agree it is highly misleading.

Even though you are only using outgoing faxing, it is still highly
recommended that you still use a faxgetty (Just set your
"RingsBeforeAnswer:" parameter to zero). Faxgetty is very good at
resetting tricky modems.
