How did you "stop HylaFAX"? If you've already upgraded the software,
the sbin/hfaxd is not going to show running processes using the
etc/hylafax.sh script or using fuser. You have to do a "ps" and carefully
double check that it is dead.

I believe that you did it right, I'm just double checking a possibility
I've seen go wrong before, even by me.
