Did you check your log files?
I have hylafax running on AIX-3.2.5 and I have problems when I try to start
hfaxd deamon from inetd deamon, so I put it in rc file:
#/etc/rc
/usr/local/sbin/hfaxd -i 4559
/usr/local/sbin/faxq
my services file:
hylafax 4559/tcp fax server
