Thanks! I'm running mgetty+sendfax. It's properly answering the line for
incoming modem calls. I just want to send faxes. Now that I look at
/etc/mgetty+sendfax/sendfax.config , I see a few commented out lines that
probably need to be uncommented.

Anything else I'm missing?
