I tried the trick with tiffsplit, I downloaded  libtiff cvs (VERSION
says 3.8.2) and tried
$ tools/tiffsplit /tmp/fax000011111.tif
TIFFReadRawStrip: /tmp/fax000011111.tif: Read error at scanline
4294967295, strip 4; got 7412 bytes, expected 7833.

So, there's no hope for this file? (it's 27k)
