This suggests that the email address with which you described was 
rejecting/bouncing email from the list.

You will be set to VACATION mode when your email address has bounced 
multiple times over an extended period. Is it possible the email address 
with which you subscribed was not accepting email from hylafax-users?

Most of those are cases of messages being sent multiple times by the poster. 
People frequently post from email addresses different from what they 
subscribed with. Their message gets flagged for moderation, but in the 
meantime, they post again from the subscribed email address. When the 
moderated post is eventually approved, the end result is that two very 
similar emails get received by subscribers.
