Re: [hylafax-users] Pagechop does not chop pages

Is there any way to convert my PDF documents into TIFF files Hylafax and c2faxsend can work with, without limitations to page size?

Ghostscript isn't very convenient for faxing in this regard. Faxing requires the usage of a fixed set of page widths while the page length can usually be arbitrary. However, in Ghostscript the only way to get a fixed page width is to specify a page size... which includes page length.

I attempted to try to make things work with a new Ghostscript feature, see:

http://bugs.hylafax.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=649

However, the Ghostscript development people have done nothing with the bug report and the provided patch, and my Ghostscript patch caused undesireable side-effects, and so I haven't used that Ghostscript patch in a while.

In any case, so long as HylaFAX uses Ghostscript to prepare PDFs into faxable TIFF, the issue here will need to be handled in Ghostscript.

Lee.
