Re: [hylafax-users] Receiving empty white pages
Lee
Thank you very much for your reply.
I was trying to view these files on Windows using irfanview and
photoshop, and photoshop did complain about unsupported compression
method. You are right on target.
Being, hmm.. , a perfectionist , I wonder - is there any way to set up
Hylafax to convert from JBIG to normal TIFF format ( no compression ).
Any response will be greatly appreciated.
Little be more info on a problem , while receiving JBIG compressed
images on email from Hylafax I had this strange message
Does not look like a facsimile?
ReceivedOn: ttyS7
CommID: c000000289
would this be caused by the JBIG compression?
Regard
Anton

If during the build process HylaFAX finds the JBIG-KIT libraries then
Class1JBIGSupport is enabled by default. Otherwise it is disabled by
default.
Over the past couple of months it has become apparent that some
distributions include JBIG-KIT (I belive for the benefit of
ImageMagick), and they do not use the JBIG patch for libtiff. This
means that you'll be able to send and receive JBIG compressed faxes, but
you'll not be able to view the received faxes (because you probably
don't have anything that can view TIFFs with JBIG data).
So, the quick solution is to just disable JBIG support by adding:
Class1JBIGSupport: no
To your modem config file and restarting faxgetty.
Lee.
