Grep "faxrcvd" from your system log (i.e., 'grep faxrcvd 
/var/log/messages').  If you don't get any entries, then increase your 
ServerTracing in your modem config file and restart faxgetty, then 
receive some more faxes, then grep again.

As root or uucp or fax or whatever faxgetty runs as...

 cd /var/spool/hylafax

and then run by hand one of the commands (like, the last one) you 
grepped out of the system log.  See if it produces any errors.  If not, 
then run the command again, but this time preceded by "sh -x ".  You'll 
then need to analyze all of that output.  If it doesn't make any sense 
to you, send it here.
