Hello Lee,
I did not apply the patch, I only looked at it and compared it with the
faxrcvd script.
I agree with Guiseppe. It is not always possible, to create
translations without rearranging the parts of a sentence.
Maybe we could use variables in the dictionary string and substitute
them using eval.
Example:
DICTATTEMPTEDFAXFAILED="An attempt to receive facsimile on \$DEVICE
failed because:"
- echo "An attempt to receive facsimile on $DEVICE failed because:"
+ eval echo "$DICTATTEMPTEDFAXFAILED"
This could be even used to handle plural with some backquotes
DICTFOO="\$pages page\`[ \$pages -gt 1 ]&&echo 's'\`"
