Re: [hylafax-users] Can not reach server at host "localhost", port 4559

Hi Matt.

I've found this before because I had an entry in /etc/inittab which would respawn the processes as soon as they died. Look for something similar to below (mine are commented out with a ":" at the moment)

:faxq:2:respawn:/usr/local/sbin/faxq -D
:hfax:2:respawn:/usr/local/sbin/hfaxd -d -i hylafax

I hope this helps.

[hylafax-users] Can not reach server at host "localhost", port 4559

I just installed hylafax according to the instructions here:
http://www.aboutdebian.com/fax.htm
as the server is running debian.
I've started hylafax as follows
# /etc/init.d/hylafax start
Not starting HylaFAX daemons since they are already running.
# /etc/init.d/hylafax stop
Stopping HylaFAX daemons: faxq(not running) hfaxd(not running) faxgetty.
# /etc/init.d/hylafax start
Not starting HylaFAX daemons since they are already running.

which looks fishy to me.
Whenever I run faxstat or sendfax, I get the error
Can not reach server at host "localhost", port 4559

I've googled and searched the archives, but nothing that I've found works...
Any Ideas? What information do you need?
