[hylafax-users] Borders cuttoff, papersize, scaling problem

Hi all,
I am having a problem with image scaling on a fax. I have a g3 tiff file
which I pass to sendfax to send to my fax machine. The image has a black
border around it, and it always comes out of the fax machine with about
one millimeter of the left and top borders cut off, so the border on those
sides do not appear. The page margins are okay though. I also tried
converting the original pdf into a tiffg3 file using gs, but it also has
the left and top borders cutoff.

The gs command I used is:
gs -q -sDEVICE=tiffg3 -dFIXEDMEDIA -sPAPERSIZE=a4 -dNOPAUSE
-sOutputFile="myfile.g3" "myfile" < /dev/null

I also tried using -sPAPERZIZE=letter, and now the fax comes out with
visible top and bottom borders, but the left and right borders are gone.

I also tried using efax to determine if this is a problem with my tiff, or
with hylafax, and got slightly different results. Sending an a4 sized tiff
through efax has the bottom and left borders cut, and letter sized has
only the left border cut off.

If I edit /usr/local/lib/fax/pagesizes and set the default size to
something else, it has no effect. If I pass the pdf to sendfax instead of
a tiff file,
the changed default pagesize does not alter the fax; which still comes out
with the left and top borders cut.

Now if I take my tiff file send it from a Mac using file->fax, the fax
comes out perfectly sized, and with larger margins all around so the image
appears smaller than when sent from hylafax.

I am using HylaFAX version 4.2.1 on Red Hat Linux ES4 with a USR Courier
V. Everything modem and a Panasonic KX-FP250 fax machine.

This problem is completely baffling me! Thank you in advance for any
suggestions!
