[hylafax-users] Waiting for modem to come ready

I'm having problems with a replacement external modem (our may have died, or
it is the same problem, but external is easier to watch the modem)

I checked the archives

Running Hylfax 4.2.1 on Suse Enterprise Server 9
System had been working just fine with an internal modem until we had a
power outage.
This modem works fine with minicom, I can dial out just fine though that.
I have tried two external modems, one boca 33.6 fax modem and now a
MultiTech fax modem. Reran faxaddmodem between modem swaps.

I know it is set to class 2, faxaddmodem did that, that should affect if the
modem will work at all, should it? Our old internal was class 1 (usr that
worked well for us, before sitting at the same status)

I do not know of any system changes recently.

Have faxgetty in the inittab file as
m0:2345:respawn:/usr/local/sbin/faxgetty ttyS0

Here is my config.ttyS0 file:
