Please see the HylaFAX-on-OS X guides at these places:

 http://bugs.hylafax.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=370

Some (okay, maybe a lot) of information there is outdated, but if you can recognize what is antiquated then you should be able to get a functional installation.

My last Mac OS X installation was done a few months ago. I used current CVS from that time and then I used the "finishing install" script both before and after the installation. I did have to tweak the "finishing install" script a bit, since Apple seems to have changed some things in 10.4. At the time I did have to manually disable POSIX priority scheduling because OS X 10.4 has a flaw there and HylaFAX didn't recognize that. Since then, though, HylaFAX has been altered to recognize this problem in OS X, so current CVS should not have this need.
