Re: [hylafax-users] RH 7.1 Upgrade from Hylafax 4.1-1 to 4.2.1

Back up everything first. Then upgrade and test. If it doesn't go well, then restore from the backup.

I have a production server that has been using Hylafax
4.1-1 since 2002. Up until now Hylafax has acted as a
fax receive only setup and has worked great. We just
added some functionality to our accounting system
(which also runs on the RH 7.1 box) to send faxes
using Hylafax. I also added 2 modems for sending at
that time.

My Setup:

Compaq ML370 800mhz Xeon
Redhat 7.1
Hylafax 4.1-1
libtiff-3.5.5-10
gcc-2.96-112.7.1
Qty 3 3com V.everything serial external modems
attached to a digi serial board

We've had a few intermittent issues recently with
faxes not being completely sent and such. Seeing that
my current version is 3 years old, I trust I should
begin with an upgrade and work out the issues from
there.

I have the 4.2.1 RPM and am ready to install but I
want to ask what I should watch out for. Can I simply
restore my /var/spool/hylafax structure after the
install and not have to reconfigure? What else should
I consider?

Thanks so much!

Jeff
