[hylafax-users] Receiving fax "didn't work"
I recently switched one of our fax lines to our Hylafax server (4.2.0,
V.92 1.0 MT5634ZPX-PCI-U, class 1) which has been running fine for a
long time, mostly sending.
After four days and 300 or so jobs received, we've now had some
complaints today that receiving faxes "didn't work". I'm waiting to
hear back if those senders can tell us what their fax machine said, but
I don't know yet. However looking through the Hylafax logs I don't see
any errors. In fact I can't confirm the senders even sent us a fax.
Before I claim its the senders fault (perhaps it was just a busy
signal), are there any scenarios where faxcron's report wouldn't show an
error but there actually was one? My first thought was what about
receiving a ring while trying to initialize the modem, however I
couldn't find any examples of this. Every instance of RING was followed
by ANSWERING today. I did find one from the other day while faxsend was
starting to send a fax, but that did show up as an error.
Other than looking for stray rings is there anything else to look for?
Scanning the syslog doesn't show anything odd, though I could include it
if needed. I also looked for any large time gaps where the modem could
have been doing something and not reporting a RING to syslog, but didn't
see anything.
Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.
