Yes. Well, sendfax uses faxcover which generates a PostScript document from the template and the supplied variables. The PostScript is submitted to hfaxd, and faxq uses ps2fax to convert it to TIFF using Ghostscript.

any additional fonts or modules are required in ghostscript program in order to support chinese?

This, I don't know.
