Re: [hylafax-users] notify

Which raises the question, why is it even *possible* to have so many
config files? I've got settings spread amongst:

	/usr/local/spool/hylafax/etc/config
	/usr/local/lib/hylafax/hfaxd.conf
	/usr/local/lib/hylafax/hyla.conf
	/usr/local/lib/hylafax/sendfax.conf

I have to continually dig into man pages to find out their preference
order. The last three are mentioned in the sendfax man page, along with
~/.hylarc, but the first one is not.

I think hylafax binaries should be allowed to consult just one,
either in .../lib/hylafax, or in .../spool/hylafax/etc, along with a
superseding ~/.hylarc.

Well, I don't particularly advocate any particular method for configuration files, but each tool needs it's own directives.

So if you had it all in one file you'd have the usual "INI sections" like this:

 [hfaxd]
 blah: blah
 foo: doo

 [faxq]
 wah: wah
 bah: humbug

 [faxgetty-ttyS0]
 one: thing
 another: thing

And I don't know if this is any better than having the "sections" just be separate files... as in this one the order becomes rather particular.

If you've got a particular approach that you're very fond of, feel free to write something up and hang it on Bugzilla.

It certainly could be worse. It could be sendmail ;-)

You can always just run faxsetup, I think.
