[hylafax-users] Fax modem (data rate vs fax rate)

I have a MT1932ZDX fax modem connected to my Redhat machine via a serial port. Its faxing 1.7 pages per minute on average (According to xferfaxstats). All the pages are in PDF format.

Question 1:
Is 1.7 pages per minute normal ?

According to the MT1932ZDX specs,
Data rate: 19.2 Kbps
Fax rate: 14.4 Kbps

I have researched the new external modems available. Almost all of them have following specs:
Data rate : 56 Kbps
Fax rate: 14.4 Kbps

Question 2:
I am assuming that the data rate will not affect the speed at which the faxes are sent. Am I right?

Question 3:
Would switching to a new modem would help increase the fax speed in anyway?

I would really appreciate your help.
Thanks
Joe.
