Re: [hylafax-users] hylafax ISDN Adapter

Here are the instructions that I posted to this list quite a while ago. Note
that these instructions are for an Eicon Diva Server series card.

Download latest kernel:
2.4.20-8 (in my case this was)

make config | make xconfig

ISDN
ISDN Support Y
Support Audio via ISDN Y
Support AT Fax Class 1 and 2 Commands
X.25 PLP on top of ISDN

ISDN Features: All no.
Passive ISDN Cards: All no.
Active ISDN Cards:
Legacy EICON Driver: Y
Eicon PCI Diva Server BRI/PRI/4BRI Support: Y
Everything Else here: no.

Other Sections of note:
Block Devices
Loopback device support: Y
Network Block device: Y

Networking Options:
Packet Socket: Y
Packet Socket Mapped IO: Y
Socket Filtering: Y

make dep
make modules
make modules_install
make install

For redhat 9: cd /boot/grub
pico grub.conf
for the entry title Red Hat Linux ISDN Extensions (2.4.20-18.9custom)
change root=LABEL=/ to root=/dev/hda2

reboot to the new kernel.
You should see your ISDN card detected by the kernel at boot time.

You need to get IDSN4K-utils the ones with redhat don't include the eicon
driver tools.
Download the latest version from Isdn4linux.de. You will need to unpack,
configure and install.
Run /sbin/divaload to get a list of available protocols. Find your correct
protocol. Australia and Telstra Onramp is AUSTRAL
Once installed, run /sbin/eiconctrl -d ecion0 load AUSTRAL
This will load and start the card.

This may or may not be the best way of running your Eicon card, however it
has worked well for us.

There are two options: use the ttyIx interface or the CAPI4Hylafax.

For the ttyIx interfaces there are some options in the kernel compilation.
These ttyIx ports emulate a class 1 or class 2 fax device, running through
your ISDN card. I unfortunately have not been able to get these to run on a
2.6 kernel with an Eicon Card. If you have better luck, please let us all
know.

(currently I use the eicon card over the ttyIx ports on a 2.4 kernel
reasonably happily...)

hi, and thank?s

Can you tell me how can use the ttyI interface with kernel 2.4, what i?m
saying
is could you indicate me the steps how to put this to work, please.

thank?s
